Praying through the tears…
Asking our Sovereign-Shepherd to comfort the brokenhearted… and also, to heal both the injured and bereaved…
“Jesus wept,” ~John 11:35
****
“‘For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them. As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness,” ~ Ezekiel 34:11-12
****
“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit,” ~Psalm 34:18
****
“But you, O God, do see trouble and grief; You consider it to take it in hand. The victim commits himself to you…” ~Psalm 10:14
****
” For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses…Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need,” ~ Hebrews 4:15a, 16
****
“I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD,” ~Psalm 27:13-14
Amen.

A very well-timed post, Lynn. Sometimes Scripture alone is the best balm.

Yes, you are absolutely right, David. I just have no words left… so many tragic shootings. Your post beautifully responded to the political and moral arguments that this has stirred… Beyond that, there is nothing I can add… And thinking of those directly impacted by this tragedy? Well, the best I can do is pray… God bless you, David!!

What’s happening sis? Your ‘silence’ reminds me of the Footprints Card, with the addition of the ‘skid marks!’
And when I questioned the Lord about the two skid lines He said, “And these are where I dragged you, kicking and screaming …”

Oh, I’m sorry… you are in the UK… we had a tragedy here yesterday… a young man open fired in a secondary school in Florida. Seventeen are dead, and many injured… my heart and prayers are with the families and students. 😢😢

Nothing to forgive! I should be asking you to forgive me! My post wouldn’t make sense to you or my other international readers, of course. I didn’t think of that. 🙁My mistake… I should have clarified the post more by explaining its context… 😕 God bless you, my thoughtful friend!!

Really nice painting Lynn, it reminds me of Tasmania a bit.
I am sorry your struggling with the shooting that took place. It’s been all over the news here, its tough to watch. Praying for you now as you work through it.
Love the Hebrews 4 verses you have in your post, especially the part how we can approach God with confidence. May you do just that during this time.

Hi, Dave! Yes, Tasmania is lovely. This painting is actually Italy… out in the Tuscan countryside, but the climate is very similar. 🙂 Thank you for your kind words about my post and the tragic event here in the U.S. I know that God is ultimately in control. However, I nevertheless grieve along with all those directly impacted by the horrendous shootings in Florida. And I am with them in my heart and spirit, and praying fervently for both the injured and the bereaved. I can’t even begin to imagine how they feel at this time. These verses express the foundation for my prayers and the hope, despite heartache, that I pray they have or find in God. Quite honestly, when I thought about posting something in the aftermath of such human horror, I knew that my words would fall so very short; thus, I chose to let God do all the “talking” here. A simple post of Scripture seemed best to me. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and concern on my behalf. You are truly a kind friend, Dave! God bless you big time!

Thank you Lynn for giving peaceful words from scripture, the only balm for injured hearts. It’s so hard to se images of youngsters running with their arms up en masse like we’ve seen for the past few days. Our nation has a severe problem that cannot be fixed with one solution other than God’s Word alone. Until we return to Him there can be no healing. Peace alone from the shepherd of our hearts. Your painting says it all!

Amen, dearest Kathy! I couldn’t have said it better! And thank you for your kind words about the post and my painting. And yes…at times like these, there are just no human words I feel I can offer to those who grieve and suffer. And so I let the One who knows us best speak through His Word. Love you much! ❤ ❤

Thank you, Lynn. We also lost a great-granddaughter, yesterday, who only lived for four weeks. God’s Word is all that we all need with His Spirit to bring us to Him during the tragic times.
David posted a very significant post addressing the need for prayer for revival, the only answer to the ills of sin in this world. Blessings.

So many hurt Lynn and sadly because of wrong teaching they think it is our Loving God who is afflicting them even if sugarcoated that it’s for their good but as we see confirmed in the Scriptures below and in the ones you shared He doesn’t do this but we do reap the evil we sow and this is His discipline until we come to our senses but then if we sow good we reap good too.
Lamentations 3: 33 For God doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the Children of Men.
Isaiah 43:1-3 – Do not be afraid Lynn for I have ransomed you. I have called you by Name Lynn you are Mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble I will be with you Lynn. When you go through rivers of difficulty Lynn you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up Lynn, the flames will not consume you. For I am The LORD, your God Lynn, The Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.”
Jeremiah 29 :11-12 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you Lynn says the LORD, thoughts of Peace and not of evil, to give you Lynn a Future and a Hope.
Below is a Song that touches my heart Lynn as yours did too which was indeed a Powerful Song of reassurance Thank you for sharing it and the Scriptures and also your Sheep, yes how wonderful is our Shepherd.
Christian Love Lynn and God’s Blessings,
Anne ( Grannie Annie)

Too much now and the division it causes is too much. Stating the obvious makes it look like it’s being turned into a political debate. Yet again, prayers and condolences is said… yet again that is all that can be said… I suppose saying something here won’t change anything as (1) I don’t live in America and (2) It isn’t going to reach the ears of those who can do something about it. Something very very obvious needs to be done but hey…. let’s all keep giving prayers and condolences. But Lynn scriptures of comfort is very needed and thanks for sharing❤️

Yes, dear Efua! It’s much too much! I pray that God intervenes. Obviously, the purpose of my blog is not to make political commentary. Since I wish for my blog to touch all hearts, I refrain from using it as a platform for political discussion. After all, if I were to express political views, there would be some who would no longer read here. And I am absolutely committed to sharing the Word of God… thus, as you have also done, I won’t comment on the political issues about any of this. Quite honestly, my heart grieves and I wasn’t sure quite how to respond here to such a terrible and horrific tragedy. But I knew that God’s Word was the best anyone could offer. Thank you for your kind and wise words! Your friendship means so very much to me! ❤ and huge hugs!
