“‘Do not fear,’ the angels said. ‘For behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which shall be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord,’” (Luke 2:10-11).
…For all the people.
Yes, Abba’s children include the weak, the suffering, the broken, the disheartened, the fearful.
And our heavenly Father knows this well.
The Psalmist penned, ” Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him. For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust,” (Psalm 103:13-14).
In His grace, God took the form of man, that He might redeem us (Philippians 2:5-8).
“He is mindful that we ar
e but dust,” (Psalm 103:14).
Then, although He ascended to heaven to prepare a place for us, He did not leave us without the comfort of His Holy Spirit, (John 14: 2; John 16:7,13; Acts 1:8).
Yes, He is still Immanuel.
He is with us here. He goes with us there. He has promised He will never leave or forsake us, (Deuteronomy 31:6).
Our Savior, Our Sovereign Shepherd has said, “Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with my righteous right hand,” (Isaiah 41:10).
Yes, He is still Immanuel. He is with us here. He goes with us there.
When days grow dark, we may long for escape.
For in this world, we stumble. We hurdle.
Our faith falters.
We suffer. We grieve.
Naturally, you and I want to run “home.” And without a doubt, one day, a beautiful homecoming will be ours.
But for now, the Light of the World goes forth… with us.
“This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope, The LORD’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Thy faithfulness,” ~Lamentations 3:21-23
